Terms of Service

Bevel — A Backend Output LLC Product
Effective date: March 23, 2026 · Last updated: October 6, 2026

These are the terms that govern your use of Bevel. We've written them to be clear. If something is confusing, email us. By creating an account, you agree to these terms.

1. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Don't share your password. If your account is compromised, notify us immediately at support@bevel.build.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By signing up, you represent that you meet this requirement.

One account per company. You may invite additional team members to your organization — they operate under your account's terms.

2. Acceptable Use

Use Bevel for lawful purposes related to construction project management. You agree not to:

  • •Use Bevel to store or transmit illegal content
  • •Attempt to access accounts or data that aren't yours
  • •Reverse engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract Bevel's code or data in ways not permitted by the product
  • •Use Bevel to harass, defraud, or harm other people
  • •Abuse AI features — including prompt injection, attempts to extract other organizations' data, or automated usage designed to evade plan limits
  • •Resell access to Bevel without our written permission

The full rules — including tenant isolation, AI fair use, rate limits, and messaging requirements — are in our Acceptable Use Policy, which is part of these terms. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

3. Your Data

Your data belongs to you. The project information, documents, receipts, photos, and other content you upload to Bevel remain your property. So does what the platform produces from it: the estimates, takeoffs, budgets, schedules, reports, and other records generated in your account — including AI-generated outputs — are yours to use, export, and keep, subject to the disclaimers in Section 5.

Your data is isolated. Bevel is a multi-tenant platform designed so that no other organization can access your projects, plans, or financials. We enforce this with row-level security on every table carrying customer data, organization-membership checks in server-side functions, and automated security audits that run continuously — and we treat any failure of this isolation as a security incident. The only intended sharing is what you create yourself: inviting a collaborator, sending a bid invitation, or sharing a link exposes exactly that content to exactly the people you chose.

By using Bevel, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit your data as necessary to provide the service — including sending documents to AI providers for processing, generating PDFs, and delivering notifications. This license exists solely to operate and maintain Bevel on your behalf.

We do not claim ownership of your data and will not use it for any purpose beyond operating and maintaining the service. We do not use your data to train AI models or for data mining. “Improving the service” means product analytics — understanding which features are used and identifying bugs — not mining or repurposing your content.

4. Service Availability

We work hard to keep Bevel running. We don't guarantee 100% uptime. Scheduled maintenance, unexpected outages, and factors outside our control can cause temporary unavailability.

We are not liable for losses resulting from service downtime. For critical project communications, maintain backups through your normal channels.

5. AI Features & Estimation Disclaimer

Bevel uses artificial intelligence to extract data from documents, generate cost estimates, process voice logs, and perform other tasks. AI outputs are generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies.

Important — Please read carefully:

All AI-generated cost estimates, takeoffs, and projections provided by Bevel are preliminary approximations only. They are not professional estimates, not certified, and not a substitute for review by a qualified estimator, engineer, or other licensed professional.

You are solely responsible for verifying all AI-generated content before acting on it — including before using any output in bids, contracts, financial decisions, or any legal or contractual context. Bevel is a tool to assist your workflow. The professional judgment is yours.

Backend Output LLC expressly disclaims all liability for any financial losses, project overruns, bid inaccuracies, or other damages arising from reliance on AI-generated outputs without independent verification.

Code and regulatory lookups: AI references to building codes, standards, or regulations are general research aids, not legal or compliance advice. Code editions, local amendments, and interpretations vary by jurisdiction — always verify requirements with your local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and your design professionals.

AI drafts: AI-drafted RFIs, punchlist items, daily logs, emails, and similar content are drafts. Review them before sending — once sent, they are your communications and part of your project record.

Bevel is software, not a licensed architect, engineer, estimator, or contractor. It assists construction professionals; it does not replace them or their professional judgment. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated output. AI features are provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

For the full picture of where Bevel uses AI and how to work with its outputs, see our AI Disclaimer.

6. Subscriptions, Billing & Usage

Billing and auto-renewal: Paid subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or annually depending on the plan you choose, and renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Payment is processed by Stripe. Current plans and prices are on our pricing page.

Free platform tier: Bevel's core project management features are currently available on a free tier. The free tier comes with usage limits, no service-level commitment, and no guarantee of continued availability — we may change what's included with notice, though we'll never silently take away access to data you've entered. Paid plans add the AI intelligence layer.

Usage allowances and metering: Paid plans include monthly allowances — Smart Project runs, daily AI questions, SMS message segments, projects, users, and storage. Allowances reset each monthly cycle and unused amounts don't roll over. Where a plan supports going beyond an included allowance (for example, additional Smart Project runs at the per-run rate shown on the pricing page), the charge is disclosed to you in the product before you incur it — no surprise overages. Where it doesn't, the feature pauses until the next cycle or an upgrade.

Cancellation: You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain full access through the end of the period you've paid for. Cancelling moves your account to the free tier — it does not delete your data or close your account (see Section 11).

Refunds: We do not issue refunds for partial billing periods, and usage-based charges (such as additional Smart Project runs) are non-refundable once the run has been delivered. If you believe you've been billed in error, contact us and we'll make it right.

Failed payments: If a payment fails, we'll notify you and attempt to retry. After reasonable attempts, we may downgrade or suspend paid features until payment is resolved.

Price changes: We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes to annual plans take effect at your next renewal. See the Founder Program section below for exceptions.

Taxes: Prices exclude applicable sales and use taxes, which are added where we are required to collect them.

7. SMS / Text Messaging

Bevel offers optional SMS notifications for project activity including daily log reminders, safety alerts, schedule updates, and bid invitations. By enabling SMS notifications in your account settings, you consent to receive automated text messages from Bevel at the phone number you provide.

Consent: Enabling SMS notifications is voluntary and is not a condition of purchasing or using Bevel. You can use all features of Bevel without enabling SMS.

Message frequency: Message frequency varies based on your project activity and the notification preferences you configure. You control which notification types trigger SMS messages.

Costs: SMS features are available on eligible paid subscription plans. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of message segments (a standard SMS is 1 segment; longer messages use multiple segments). Current allowances by plan are listed on our pricing page. If your organization uses its full monthly allowance, outbound SMS is paused until the next monthly cycle unless you upgrade your plan. We may offer additional SMS capacity or per-message pricing in the future; any charges beyond your subscription will be disclosed to you before you incur them. Separately, standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply to messages you receive — those charges come from your carrier, not from Bevel.

Opting out: You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any Bevel text message or by disabling SMS notifications in your account settings. After opting out, you will receive a confirmation message and no further texts unless you re-enable notifications.

Help: Reply HELP to any Bevel text message for assistance, or contact us at support@bevel.build.

Quiet hours: You can set quiet hours in your notification settings, and Bevel will suppress SMS notifications during that window in your local time zone.

SMS messages are delivered via Telnyx. Your phone number is not shared with any other third party, and mobile opt-in data is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your phone number, and our full SMS Terms & Conditions for complete program terms.

8. Founder Program

The Founder Program offers early customers a permanently locked subscription rate. Specific terms:

  • •Your founder rate is guaranteed for life as long as your subscription remains active
  • •If you cancel your subscription, you permanently lose your founder rate. Resubscribing will be at the standard rate in effect at the time
  • •Founder status applies to the company account, not to individual users
  • •We may modify features within a tier over time, but we will not reduce the value of a founder tier below what it offered at the time of enrollment

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Backend Output LLC, its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

  • •Your use of the Service
  • •Your violation of these Terms
  • •Your reliance on AI-generated outputs without independent verification
  • •Any content you upload, submit, or transmit through Bevel
  • •Your violation of any applicable law or regulation

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Backend Output LLC's total liability for any claim arising from your use of Bevel is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including lost profits, lost data, business interruption, cost overruns, or inaccurate estimates — even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain liability limitations. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

11. Termination, Data Deletion & Record Retention

Cancelling a subscription is not termination. Your account continues on the free tier with your data intact and exportable (see Section 6).

Leaving Bevel: Export your records — available any time from Settings, not only on the way out. To close an account, email privacy@bevel.build. After a 30-day window in which the request can be reversed, we remove the individual's personal identifiers: email address, phone number, profile photo, and name, which becomes “Former member”.

We do not delete your business records. Change orders, pay applications, daily logs, RFIs, submittals, estimates, photos and their history remain in your organization's account, with the departed member's past actions attributed to an anonymised former member so that financial and approval trails stay intact rather than becoming orphaned. This is a deliberate choice on your behalf: these are your company's construction records, and you may need them years later to answer a delay claim, a payment dispute or a defect allegation. Erasing them on request would destroy your own evidence. If you want records removed as well as identifiers, ask us directly — it is a conversation about what the law permits and what you lose, not a checkbox.

What identifier removal does not touch: billing records required by tax and accounting law, SMS opt-out records kept so we never message a number that said STOP, and anything under a legal preservation hold you have notified us of. An active hold suspends identifier removal as well — see the Litigation hold paragraph below. Identifier removal is irreversible once the 30-day window closes.

By us: We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation. For serious violations (illegal activity, security threats), we may terminate immediately. After termination by us, the same export access and identifier-removal-on-request process applies for 30 days, except where legal obligations require otherwise.

Your records, your retention duties. Construction records often carry retention obligations of many years under your contracts, your insurers, and applicable law — including limitation and peremptive periods for construction claims. You are solely responsible for exporting and retaining copies of your project records to satisfy those obligations. After your account ends, Bevel is not your system of record.

Litigation hold: If you notify us in writing that records in your account are subject to a legal preservation obligation, we will preserve them and suspend any scheduled identifier removal or deletion affecting them until you confirm in writing that the hold has ended. This is enforced in the software, not only promised here: an active hold on your organization causes the account-erasure process to refuse outright rather than proceed partially.

12. Intellectual Property

Bevel, its code, design, and all intellectual property belong to Backend Output LLC. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership of Bevel's IP to you.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of Bevel's software, nor may you reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code, unless applicable law expressly permits it.

Your content remains yours. See Section 3.

13. Beta & Early Access Features

Bevel may offer features designated as “beta,” “preview,” or “early access.” These features are provided as-is for evaluation purposes and may be modified, suspended, or removed at any time without notice.

Beta features may contain bugs, errors, or incomplete functionality. Backend Output LLC makes no warranties regarding beta features and assumes no liability for any issues arising from their use. Your use of beta features is at your own risk.

14. Confidentiality

In using Bevel you may learn non-public information about the platform — beta and unreleased features, non-public pricing or roadmap details, security practices, and platform internals. You agree to keep that information confidential, and not to disclose it to third parties or use it for any purpose outside your use of Bevel, for as long as it remains non-public.

This does not apply to information that is or becomes public through no fault of yours, that you already knew without a confidentiality obligation, or that you are legally required to disclose (where lawful, tell us before you do).

This section runs one direction — it protects Bevel's information. Your data is protected the other direction by Section 3, the Privacy Policy, and the Data Processing Agreement. Any separately signed non-disclosure agreement between us remains its own agreement and controls over this section where they conflict.

15. Dispute Resolution

Informal resolution first: Before filing any formal proceeding, you agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting us at support@bevel.build. We'll try to resolve it within 30 days.

Binding arbitration: If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Bevel will be resolved by binding arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Arbitration will take place in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana. The arbitrator's decision will be final and enforceable in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Courts: Any dispute that is not resolved by arbitration will be brought only in the state courts located in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, or the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, and you and we consent to those courts' jurisdiction.

Class action waiver: You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis, not as a class action, collective action, or representative proceeding. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against Backend Output LLC.

16. Governing Law

Change on October 6, 2026: sections 15 and 16 now name Louisiana law and Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, in place of Washington law and Benton County, Washington. This change takes effect on November 1, 2026. Until then the previous version applies.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Backend Output LLC is based in Lafayette, Louisiana.

17. General

Severability: If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in full effect, and the unenforceable provision is enforced to the maximum extent the law allows.

Assignment: You may not assign these terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all of our assets — and any successor remains bound by the data commitments in Section 3, the Privacy Policy, and the Data Processing Agreement.

Wind-down: If we discontinue Bevel or wind down operations, we will give you at least 60 days' notice and keep your data exportable throughout that period.

Force majeure: Neither party is liable for delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond its reasonable control — natural disasters, war, terrorism, labor disputes, internet or utility failures, or government action.

Entire agreement: These terms, together with the policies they incorporate, are the entire agreement between you and Backend Output LLC about Bevel and supersede prior discussions — except separately signed agreements (such as an NDA or a countersigned DPA), which control where they conflict.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
