Bevel — A Backend Output LLC Product
Effective date: July 5, 2026 · Last updated: July 5, 2026

Bevel uses AI throughout the platform. This page explains where, and what that means for how you should use the results. It supplements Section 5 of our Terms of Service.

Bevel assists construction professionals. It does not replace them.

Bevel is not a licensed architect, engineer, estimator, or contractor, and nothing it produces is a professional certification, a stamped drawing, a guaranteed price, or legal advice. Every AI output is a starting point that requires review by a qualified person before you rely on it.

Where Bevel Uses AI

  • •Smart Project runs — reading your plan sets to classify sheets, extract quantities, and build takeoffs, estimates, budgets, and schedules
  • •AI chat and plan Q&A — answering questions about your projects, plans, and specifications
  • •AI actions — drafting RFIs, punchlist items, daily logs, and emails from chat, voice, or SMS
  • •Document extraction — pulling structured data from receipts, bids, invoices, and inbound emails
  • •Voice features — transcribing voice walkthroughs and meetings into notes and action items
  • •Reference lookups — surfacing general building-code and standards information relevant to a question

Estimates & Takeoffs Are Starting Points, Not Final Numbers

AI-generated estimates, takeoffs, quantity counts, and cost projections are preliminary approximations. They can miss items, misread drawings, double-count scope, or apply pricing that doesn't reflect your market, your subs, or current material costs.

Before an AI estimate touches a bid, a contract, or a financial decision, a qualified estimator should verify quantities against the plans, confirm pricing, and apply the judgment that only comes from knowing the job. Bids you submit are your bids — Bevel does not guarantee any estimate's accuracy or completeness, and is not responsible for bid outcomes, cost overruns, or profit shortfalls.

Code Lookups Are Not Legal or Compliance Advice

When Bevel's AI references building codes, standards, or regulations, it draws on general published information. It does not know which code edition, local amendments, or interpretations your Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) enforces — and codes change.

Always verify code requirements with your local AHJ, the adopted code edition for your jurisdiction, and your design professionals. AI code references are a research aid, never a compliance determination.

Review AI Drafts Before They Leave Your Hands

AI-drafted RFIs, punchlist items, daily logs, emails, and meeting summaries are drafts. They can misstate facts, misattribute statements, or omit context. Review and edit them before you send them to an owner, architect, sub, or anyone else — once sent, they're part of the project record, and they're yours.

Voice transcription can mishear names, numbers, and trade terms, especially on a noisy jobsite. Check transcribed quantities and commitments against what was actually said.

Why AI Gets Things Wrong

Large language models generate plausible output, and most of the time that output is accurate — but they can produce confident-sounding errors (“hallucinations”), misread low-quality scans, and struggle with ambiguous or conflicting drawings. We engineer around these failure modes with verification passes and structured extraction, but no AI system is error-free and we don't claim ours is.

That's why every AI surface in Bevel carries a disclaimer, and why our Terms of Service make verification your responsibility. AI features are provided “as is” without warranty of any kind.

Questions

If you're unsure whether an AI output is safe to rely on, treat it as unverified and check it. Questions about this disclaimer: support@bevel.build.
